We are looking for a creative individual, who loves video, animated gifs, podcasts, and great photography, to join our team as a New Media Editor. You follow design trends, emerging media and new ways of telling stories. You love to see a clever idea spread across the internet, and you think you can make it happen with your ideas.
What you will do:
- Constantly scour the internet for new ideas, new methods of storytelling, and great content that can be used, re-purposed, shared, edited, and made even better
- Bring your ideas to story meetings with our writers and editors to have them collaboratively honed and made better
- Actually make your ideas into something we can share with our audience. This will involve shooting new video, photos, and audio, editing the work yourself, gathering feedback, and then helping it spread online
- Manage or assist with recording interviews
- Write voiceover scripts
- Source the right photos to match our brand and the stories we publish
- Format existing design, photography, illustration, and video for various online formats and social media channels
What qualities you have and what you have done:
- Lots of experience searching the web to find photos, videos, and podcasts
- Voracious consumer of media and pop culture – it’d be great if there’s a special place in your heart for social media and YouTube
- Strong knowledge of video editing, image and video formats, and the web
- Good knowledge of the Adobe Suite, especially Photoshop, Premiere, and After Effects
- Understanding the basics of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS would be a plus
- You think clearly and creatively under pressure
- You meet deadlines
- Self motivated with attention to detail
